When cults, groups, or social circles form alliances around targeted objectives for specifically identified individuals or other groups, "friendshipping" or "serving" the targeted individual or other groups can become more of a pursuit of social credit and capital in the eyes of the group with the agenda than genuine organic concern for the well-being and actual personal interests of the individual targets.

Serving the agenda group's objectives for a targeted individual or other group is not necessarily the same things as being of genuine service to one's fellow man.

Such social dynamics can easily result in competition to be the agenda group's "hero" or a "valued contributor" (MVP) to the adopted objectives of the group. Social MVPs can easily become more interested in their status as an MVP, and the social capital it affords them in the eyes of their agenda group, than a sincere understanding of the targeted individual's actual interests and needs, now lost and sometimes trampled over in a cloud of social engineering aimed at the accomplishment of objectives pursued by the agenda group.
